Operate industrial robots as easily as your smartphone

Changing market conditions pose significant challenges for companies

Increasing product variations and shorter product life cycles increase the need for flexibility, adaptability and speed

The changed market conditions can also be felt in robot automation: more and more experts who can set up and program robot systems are missing. Due to increasing product variants and ever shorter product life cycles, the desire for more flexibility and fast adaptability of robot applications in machines and plants increases.

  • Lack of expertise
  • Self-developed solutions require a lot of time and money
  • Different robot brands increase integration efforts
  • Complex retrofitting of automation solutions

  • Variously expandable thanks to open interfaces and integration in KEBA's Kemro X automation platform

Advantages for solution providers

Opening up new markets

Tap into a market segment that was previously unaddressable: Customers with high demands on the flexibility and usability of the system.

Reduce time and costs

Benefit from available visualization and integration solutions instead of reinventing the wheel:

  • Reduce development effort
  • Reduce time to market

Stay independent

Same appearance of the user interface - regardless of the robot brand.
Less integration effort when using a new robot brand.

One system: Kemro X

Machine control, robotics, proprietary software, safety, visualization in one system reduce hardware costs, complexity and effort.

Robot programming

Classic versus drag&bot OS

In contrast to conventional robot programming with the teach pendant of the robot, operation with drag&bot OS is not only much easier and faster, but also more uniform.
You only need one software to operate all your robots.

Typical applications

Machine loading, Flexible Standard Cells and Robot Builders are the most common applications of drag&bot OS.

Robot illustration

Machine feeding

The robot-assisted, integrated loading and unloading of machines offers machine manufacturers new opportunities to meaningfully expand their range around their core products. End users thus receive machine and automation from a single source.
With drag&bot OS, machine manufacturers get a ready-made solution for integrating robots from different manufacturers in conjunction with visualization for easy operation and customization by the end user. White-labeling and customer-specific extensions are possible without much effort.

Operation of a robot cell

Flexible robot cell

Flexible robot cells offer a cost-effective option for retrofitting robot automation in existing machinery. Thanks to the movable platform and intuitive operation, commissioning and changeover times are reduced, while the robot is always used exactly where it is needed.
drag&bot OS offers an easy-to-use, no-code user interface and works with ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, etc.

Robot manufacturer

Manufacturers of process-specific industrial and collaborative robots need an integrated user interface such as drag&bot OS so that their end users can use their systems without time-consuming training and cumbersome line-by-line programming.
drag&bot OS – together with the robot controller KeMotion – offers a basic solution for intuitive and individually adaptable, graphical visualization and operation for robots with special tasks.

What our customer say

Michael Fraede

Managing Director - robotics.consulting

"In the age of digitalization, industrial robots are becoming increasingly flexible tools. Thanks to drag&bot's intuitive user interface, robots lose the horror of complicated programming for end users and can finally also be used flexibly by "laymen"."

Carsten Placke

Managing Director - Placke GmbH

"With drag&bot, our customers can teach in new bending parts in just a few minutes and thus reduce downtimes. This is a strong sales argument that sets us apart from our competitors!"

Jonas Arnold

Tech Center Robotics of ZF Friedrichshafen AG

"With drag&bot, we save a lot of time in our daily work with robots. We use this time for other challenges such as process development."

Dr. Javier Contreras

Automation & Machine Vision Consultant - Picoinspect

"I have to say that your competitive advantage is clearly how easy it is to program robots using the function blocks - well done! That's a great selling point."

Noel Ernsting Luz

Devloping Engineer - HALI tex GmbH

"We put one of the EPSON VT6s into operation ourselves for the production line with drag&bot OS. I'm amazed at how quickly and easily it went."

René von Fintel

Head of Product Management Cameras & Software - Basler AG

"Thanks to our partnership with drag&bot, we can serve the robotics market even better with vision solutions. The seamless integration of Basler's hardware and software into drag&bot opens up great opportunities for both existing and new customers to cost-effectively utilize vision in their robotic systems."

Jochen Vohwinkel

Dipl.-Ing. Senior teacher - Vocational school center Bietigheim-Bissingen

"drag&bot makes operating our KUKA iiwa child's play - now we can integrate the robot into the classroom much more easily."

Andreas Böhm

"We are very enthusiastic about your system, great operation and super expandable. It's great that you have designed it so openly that you can look inside the function blocks."

Frequently asked questions – FAQs

Here we have compiled the most important questions & answers from our FAQ section for you.

Which robots and other hardware are supported?

drag&bot OS supports a wide range of robots, including industrial robots from manufacturers such as ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, Nachi, Epson, Stäubli, Denso, Mecademic, Universal Robots. The software supports all common grippers and various cameras and vision systems.
For more information see hardware interfaces - supported hardware.

Are there interfaces to Profibus or EtherCAT? Is drag&bot OS real-time capable?

Yes, drag&bot OS - in combination with Kemro X - offers interfaces to various industrial communication protocols, including Profibus and EtherCAT. drag&bot OS itself, however, is web-based and thus not real-time capable.

Can I control more than 1 robot with drag&bot OS?

A software license always enables the control of a single robot at a time. Within the software, the robot model can be changed at any time. Several software instances of drag&bot OS can communicate with each other and thus enable complex multi-robot applications.

Can I install the software on my own hardware?

To simplify the installation of drag&bot OS, our software is always delivered together with a powerful control from KEBA. In series use (> 50 licenses/year), the installation of the software on other, powerful hardware is conceivable.

Can the robot follow a predefined path with the help of drag&bot OS?

Currently, it is not directly possible to transfer a path, e.g. from a 3D model, into drag&bot OS as a trajectory. However, this can be developed individually for the customer if required and with the corresponding potential.

What advantages does the software have over collaborating robots (=cobots)?

Compared to Cobots, drag&bot OS offers a platform-independent solution that unifies the operation of different robot manufacturers. It also offers easier programming, a dynamic dashboard for the worker that can be adapted to the application, and in combination with Kemro X, integrated PLC control and other software modules.

How does drag&bot OS differ from other robotics software solutions on the market?

Our software is characterized by its particularly user-friendly, graphical, no-code user interface for workers and end users, which significantly simplifies the simulation, setup and operation of robot applications. Unlike other solutions, we support a very wide range of different robot brands and offer manufacturers open interfaces based on ROS1 to develop their own drivers for peripheral devices.

Does drag&bot deliver a turnkey-robot-solution?

Our software offers a variety of ready-made applications and program templates that can be used as a starting point for developing your own applications. This significantly speeds up the commissioning of robot applications. Through our partners, we also offer specific drag&bot programming service or deliver individual complete solutions from one source.

What is drag&bot's business model and how much does the software cost?

drag&bot OS is offered as a one-time runtime license together with a CP520 KEBA controller and additional accessories at a current final customer list price of € 4,990. The KEBA handheld control unit with accessories has a current final customer list price of € 3,870 (prices subject to change as of 11/2023). For machine builders, system integrators and robot manufacturers in series production, the transaction is handled by KEBA Industrial Automation Germany GmbH or KEBA AG from Linz. For other customer groups, such as manufacturing end users, users from the field of research & development and educational institutions, processing is carried out via our partners.

Who provides training and support for the software?

For machine builders and robot manufacturers in series production, training and support are provided directly by drag&bot. For end users, schools, universities, research institutes, our partners take over the handling, training and support.
